Making the Kinplex Accessible

We Need You!

Which city facility hosts 250,000 people on an annual basis and is the focal point of every sports tournament held in Medicine Hat? It might surprise you to learn that its the Kinplex which is home base for sports such as hockey, lacrosse, inline hockey, ringette, curling, and figure skating in addition to being heavily used by the Medicine Hat Stampede and Exhibition.

The Kinplex is home to the Junior B Cubs, Tigers Midget AAA Hockey, Hockey Hounds Midget 15s AAA, the Sundevils Junior Lacrosse teams as well as important annual tournaments such as the Bantam AAA Hockey Tournament, the Ed Horvath Ringette Tournament and the JamPail Bonspiel and has played host to the Western Canadian Figure Skating Championship and the Keystone Cup.

Built 39 years ago, the Kinplex is still a vital part of the community but for some of our citizens, the facility is inaccessible. Citizens with disabilities need a friendlier environment where they can come out to events to support their children, grandchildren, and the local community. Our plan is to move the players boxes and convert the current players boxes to special seating to make the facility more accessible to our citizens. Its the right thing to do and with your help, we can make these necessary improvements.
We will raise $50K from grants and other contests
We will ask the city to allow us to sell painted/engraved bricks for $100 on the floor of thenew seating area
We will fundraise with the support of various community and citizen groups
The Kinplex is a fantastic facility with many more years of useful life and we want to make sure that all Medicine Hat citizens can have the opportunity to attend events. Please join us in improving the Kinplex for future generations.
